Luton Town Slip To Another Defeat As Relegation Looms Large

The so called big club always invest in getting the best talents — which means smaller clubs
have to deal with getting new recruits all the time. And AFC
Bournemouth hasn’t
escaped this
either.
Last August, Bournemouth lost its centre forward, Dominic Solanke, to Tottenham Hotspur. This
left
a gap that needed to be urgently filled in the club. Bournemouth needed someone quick on their
feet and able to deliver similar (or even more impressive) wins. The club found Evanilson.
At a staggering cost of €47m, Evanilson signed and joined Bournemouth. The 25-year-old is the
club’s most expensive acquired player, surpassing Jefferson Lerma’s acquisition which was sealed
at €30m in 2018. Joining Bournemouth for the current league, many football fans wonder if the
Brazilian striker has successfully replaced Solanke.

Evanilson began his professional football career in FC Fluminense. Fluminense is popular for raising top global players like Thiago Silva, Felipe Alves, and Marcelo. Evanilson left Fluminense to join FC Porto in 2020.
Evanilson’s Career to Date

Comparing Evanilson and Solanke
Comparing Evanilson and Solanke, data shows both players have similar scores for shots, goals, and touches in the opposition box. Evanilson’s goals per 90 minutes were 0.6 from 34 appearances, a little higher than Solanke’s 0.53 from 42 appearances. There’s a good possibility of Evanilson matching — or even surpassing — Solanke’s penalty-box poaching skills.

Evanilson’s Journey: Performance, Comparison with Solanke, and Future Potential
- Evanilson’s Performance and Achievements While in Portugal, the Brazilian striker scored 60 goals, provided 21 assists, and won three domestic cups and a league title. Last season, he was his club’s top scorer with 17 goals in the league.
- Comparison with Solanke Both players have similar stats for shots, goals, and touches in the opposition box. Evanilson’s goals per 90 minutes (0.6) were slightly higher than Solanke’s (0.53), but his heading ability needs improvement.

The Final Verdict
When compared to Solanke in the ongoing league, Evanilson has not been able to outshine the previous number 9 — Evanilson has 0.26 goals per match, while Solanke has 0.41. But looking at their shooting accuracy, Evanilson beats Solanke at 49% against 47%. Out of the five goals he scored, four were with his right foot, and the last was a header. The player is settling well into the squad, but needs to do more to truly fill Solanke’s shoes and, more importantly, outshine the previous striker. The centre forward has lost seven big chances this season, but he also created two for the squad.

We played hoof all for the entire 1st half. Kaminski went long every single time and a huge majority of those long balls gave possession to the opposition.
Half time 2-0. Enter Massoko. No more long balls from Kaminski, Massoko the outlet, and to be honest I don’t remember him missing a single pass.
Second half result 0-0 and our shots on goal, passing and possession improved dramatically. Saying our opposition never got out of second gear isn’t true really They would have twisted the knife as surely as we would have if they could.
No, the tactical change at half time resulted in a big improvement over our 1st half effort, and for me Massoko could be what we need going forward. Put him in a back 4 with McGuiness, play 2 defensive midfielders, deliver the same tactics as our 2nd half and we have a hope. Also with this pass the ball style of play or football if you like, I’d play 2 nippy strikers maybe Alli and Brown and lose our target men to see where it takes us.
I know I’m in a minority here and possibly even on my own, but I said last week that I thought we’d lose this game but still stay up, I’m stickiing with that until it’s no longer possible

Football is a simple game do the basics right and set up a team to suit players natural game. We are not doing either simple so we get relegated because of not doing the easiest thing to put right.

The other thing about center backs, if we are in such dire straights why not have a word with Adebayo, that’s how he started his professional career as a center back we could deploy him like Celtic and Villa did with Chris Sutton. Just a thought.
We all have to except mistakes have been made by Gary Sweet and the owners of the club but let not forget we as supporters will always give the club support granted this season has been shocking to say the least but this is what the club may well need no body wants to see us relegated but as i said in previous posts even a Steve Cooper or Gary O’Neil would not have turned it around one thing is certain we will be back where we belong sooner than we all think I will put my money where my mouth is and say we win league one at a canter next season
